Special fast-track court has pronounced its verdict on Delhi gang rape case after almost 8 months.
Four convicted – Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur, Pawan Gupta and Mukesh Singh – has been found guilty of rape and murder of a 23-year-old paramedical girl who was gang raped by 6 men on December 16, 2012 on a moving bus in Delhi. The braveheart girl later died in a Singapore hospital.
The co-accused of the case, Ram Singh committed suicide in Tihar Jail and another minor, a co-accused is currentlyserving 3 years in juvenile correction facility.
The sentence will be announced on Wednesday.
The braveheart’s family, who is demanding death sentences for the culprits, said it is a satisfied verdict.
“I happy with the verdict. I want to give full credit to Delhi Police and media,” said the girl’s father.
“The conviction was expected. What is awaited is the quantum of punishment. The severest punishment should be given,” former IPS officer Kiran Bedi said.
