YSR Congress President YS Jaganmohan Reddy has resigned as Kadapa MP on Saturday in protest of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Jagan’s mother Vijayamma, a MLA from Pulivendula has also resigned.
Jagan who is currently in jail on corruption charges, sent his resignation letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Mira Kumar.
Confirming the news, party leader Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy told reporters, “Jagan faxed his resignation letter to Lok Sabha Speaker through the jail authorities. It will also be sent by post.”
“I, too, sent my resignation to the Lok Sabha Speaker on August 5. Now, our leaders Jagan and Vijayamma have also tendered their resignations,” MP Mekapati said.
Meanwhile the protests continue in many parts of Andhra Pradesh especially in Seemandhra against the decision of dividing the state and create separate Telengana statehood. Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy had articulated his concerns over the divergence of Andhra and said that it would lead to more problems.
