At least eight children were killed in a powerful suicide bomb blast near the Indian consulate in Afghanistan’s Jalalabad city on Saturday. More than 21 people are seriously injured.
TOI quoted an official source in New Delhi who confirmed the attack.
“All Indians are safe and there was no major damage to the consulate,” he said.
The incident took place on Saturday morning when a detonated explosives-packed vehicle blast near a mosque in Jalalabad city.
“Most of the victims were children attending religious classes at the mosque,” Nangarhar province police chief Gen Sharif Amin quoted as saying by the Tolo News.
“At least eight children were killed and 21 other civilians wounded in the attack,” he added.
No militant group has claimed responsibility yet.
