The Aam Aadmi Party requested suspended Noida SDM Durga Shakti Nagpal to join their party and contest election against Samajwadi party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav from Mainpuri parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
“It is ironical that Durga Shakti Nagpal is seeking justice from a system that is opposing her. We appeal to her to contest elections against Mulayam Singh Yadav from the Mainpuri constituency,” AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday.
“Our support will continue even if she chooses to contest as an independent candidate,” he added.
The UP government has suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal on July 28, stating that her action to demolish of the wall of a religious place in Noida which could have hurt communal harmony. However, the Noida district magistrate report confirmed that Nagpal had not ordered any demolition. The actual reason of suspension of Durga was because she started taking action against sand mining mafia in Gautam Buddh Nagar. Although UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav defended his action for suspending Durga Shakti, however his government and Samajwadi party is in clear back foot.
“The illegal suspension of Durga Shakti Nagpal reflects the arrogance of the political system which is ready to shunt or even eliminate any bureaucrat’s action which is against their interests. There have been several such incidents in the past too. We have come into politics to change this,” said senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan.
