A new case has been framed against Bollywood actor Salman Khan in the 2002 hit-and-run case. Salman Khan will now be tried for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. If found guilty, he has to face 10 years imprisonment.
Salman Khan has pleaded not guilty in Mumbai court on Wednesday. Court has exempted him from personal appearance during the hearing. The next hearing will be on August 19.
Mumbai police registered a case against the actor after one person was killed and four were injured when a car ran over a group of people sleeping on roadside in Bandra on September 28, 2002. It was alleged that the car was driven by Salman Khan.
“We are shocked. Salman Khan is being crucified, he’s paying price of being a celebrity,” Congress MLA Baba Siddiqui said in his first reaction.
