Food Security scheme rollout to start from August 20

After the meeting between Congress party Chief Sonia Gandhi and top Congress leaders on Saturday, the party has decided to start the rollout of the Food Security scheme from August 20, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Food Minister KV Thomas were present in the meeting.

Food security bill is the pet project of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Congress is desperate to implement it before the 2014 General election. Very soon government will arrange a meeting with all party chief ministers and state chiefs.

Experts believe that the government is implementing the scheme too soon without having appropriate infrastructure. Government is ignoring the ground realities and hurry in implementation may not produce the expected results.
