Egypt’s interim president Adly Mansour met army chief Gen. Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi on Saturday as the situation in the country intensify following the killing of 36 people on Friday’s clash between Morsi supporters and opponents.
Mansour, Former Chief Justice of Supreme Court, also met Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim and discussed the situation. Mansour took charge as the acting head of Egypt on Thursday after the military overthrew former president Mohammed Morsi who was the first democratically elected President of Egypt.
Massive protest by Morsi-supporters erupted on Cairo Street on Friday, following by violence between them and anti-Morsi demonstrators led by the leaders of Tamrod or rebels.
Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood claimed that the former president’s supporters would not give up the fight till Morsi returns to office.
“God make Morsi victorious and bring him back to the palace. We are his soldiers we defend him with our lives,” Brotherhood chief Mohammed Badie said.
Meanwhile Brotherhood’s most powerful leader Khairat el-Shater was arrested in Cairo on late Friday on allegations of provocations violence in the country.
