On Thursday United State Senate has passed a historic immigration bill which will allow almost 11 millions unauthorised immigrants in the country to get its citizenship.
President Barack Obama welcomes the legislation which includes reform of legal immigration and a major investment of almost $50 billion into border security.
According to the new proposed legislation, immigrants need to pass background checks. They need to pay fees, fines and back taxes. Immigrants have to learn English, gain employment, and, of course, they need to, as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said, “stay out of trouble.”
The Democratic-controlled Senate passed the bill with 68-32 votes. 14 Republicans also voted for the historic bill. However the bill is likely to not get approval in the Republicans dominated conservative House of Representatives.
