China’s Defence Ministry strongly rejected a U.S. report that claims Chinese hackers have hacked designs of more than two dozen major U.S. weapons systems. Dismissing the report China said that the country does not need any outside assistance for its military development.
“It both underestimates the Pentagon’s defensive security abilities and the Chinese people’s intelligence,” Chinese Defence Ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng said on Thursday.
“China absolutely has the ability to build the weapons needed for national security. Recently China’s aircraft carrier, new fighter jets and transport aircraft … have clearly shown this,” Geng added.
Meanwhile President Barack Obama may take up the issue of cyber security with Chinese President Xi Jinping during a meeting in California next week.
