PM sacks Law Minister Ashwani Kumar

After a day-long high drama, Law Minister Ashwani Kumar was finally shown the door.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi forced Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to sack Law Minister Ashwani Kumar on Friday night following Supreme Court’s fierce criticism for vetting CBI report in the probe into coal blocks allocation scam.

Earlier Manmohan Singh had to sack Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal who is under fire as CBI has arrested his nephew Vijay Singla for allegedly taking a partial bribe of Rs 90 lakh from a Railway Board member for promotion.

Earlier in the day Sonia Gandhi met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and asked him to force his ministers to resign.
