Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal resigns

Railway Minister  Pawan Kumar Bansal finally resigned on Friday evening in wake of allegations of corrupt against him and his family. 

Earlier in the day Congress President Sonia Gandhi met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and asked him to sack Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal immediately.

Mallikarjun Kharge has emerged frontrunner to become the next Railway Minister portfolio.

CBI meanwhile narrowed down their investigation and they got evidence that senior Railway officer Mahesh Kumar had met Pawan Kumar Bansal on April 21 and got his appointment as  the Railway Board member ((Electrical). Bansal’s nephew was arrested by CBI for receiving the partial bribe of Rs 90 lakh last week. Kumar was reportedly asked to pay 2 crore to Bansal family to get the promotion.

However the action came too late.  Perceptional damage to Congress party has already been done. Now the big question is whether Law Minister Aswini Kumar’s exit will be the next?
