According to a poll conducted by Sanona, the UK’s largest online Pay Per View Indian movie streaming service, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ emerged as the most favourite Hindi film in last 100 years.
Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer 1995 blockbuster film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ got 47% votes.
“With Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s continuing popularity and Bollywood’s expanding fan base in the UK, Europe and further afield, it comes as no surprise that ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ would be voted the public’s most favourite film,” Sanona’s CMO, Shazia Nizam said.
DDLJ was debut film of Writer-director Aditya Chopra.
DDLJ beat Raj Kapoor’s ‘Awaara’, Mehboob Khan’s ‘Mother India’ and Ramesh Sippy’s ‘Sholay’.
It has been also the longest-running Indian film with completing 900 weeks at the Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai.
DDLJ won 10 Filmfare Awards and National Film Awards for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
