Many good books have been made into movies in Hindi Film Industry and for sure, many will be made in future too. It is not a new trend that books are being adapted for the big screen. The much-awaited upcoming Bollywood movie ‘Shootout at Wadala’ is also based on famous book ‘Dongri to Dubai: Six Decades of the Mumbai Mafia’.

Hussain Zaidi’s 'Dongri to Dubai' has been made into film 'Shootout at Wadala'The critically acclaimed and bestselling ‘Dongri to Dubai’ is written by veteran investigative journalist S. Hussain Zaidi. The renowned Mumbai-based journalist Hussain Zaidi’s previous books include bestsellers like Black Friday and the Mafia Queens of Mumbai.

Zaidi has worked with the Asian Age, the Mumbai Mirror, Mid-day, and the Indian Express.

Sequel to 2007 film ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ Sanjay Gupta’s upcoming crime drama ‘Shootout at Wadala’ features John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Manoj Bajpai, Kangna Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor and Sonu Sood in lead roles. The movie is being produced by Ekta Kapoor.

The book, as well as the movie talks about ‘six Decades of The Mumbai Mafia’ and how organized crime has been shaped in the financial capital of India. Hussain Zaidi’s interview of Dawood Ibrahim is the highlight of the book, but we do not know whether the filmmakers will retain the scene. The book and film, however, is not about Dawood, it is about the first official encounter by Mumbai police, where gangster Manya Surve was shot dead at the junction next to Dr. Ambedkar college, Wadala, Mumbai, in 1982.

About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
