A US delegation consisting of 3 Congress members and businessmen met Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday in Ahmedabad.
This is very significant for Narendra Modi as US has been denying visa to him for the last 10 years for his alleged role in the 2002 Gujarat riots. However after UK and European Union’s admiration and visit to Gujarat, US delegation’s meeting with Modi is giving out a strong signal and may open a new political chapter for him.
Aaron Schock, a Republican congressman, Ron Somers – president of the US-India Business Council (USIBC), and Cynthia Lummis – Republican Party member have met Modi along with American businessmen this morning and discussed on economical relations with India. They praised Gujarat and its chief minister for developmental progress.
“Met a visiting USA delegation. 3 members of USA Congress @cathymcmorris, @repaaronschock, @CynthiaLummis & business persons were present,” twitted Narendra Modi.
“Am thankful to the members of USA Congress & business persons for their kind words on Gujarat’s development. I spoke to the USA delegation about how Gujarat has adopted a faster, inclusive & environment friendly process of development,” he further said.
Aaron Schock, a Republican member of the House of Representatives from Illinois, after meeting Modi said, “We are grateful to Chief Minister Narendra Modi. We learnt about the development. It is much easier to do business in Gujarat. Modi is very dynamic person. We have extend an invitation to the Chief Minister to visit USA and share his ideas with us.” Another Congress member Kathy Rogers said, “We will work with the US State Department. We will be pleased to have Modi in US. we will continue to work towards making Modi’s visit happen.”
