The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) disagree with the people who plea for pardoning bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt from 5-year jail sentence.
RSS criticises Justice Markandeya Katju and other political leaders and the film industry for advocating Governor to forgive Sanjay Dutt’s crime and let go the actor from the jail term awarded by the Supreme Court in its historical verdict on 1993 Bombay blast case.
RSS weekly magazine Panchjanya editorial said, “On the one hand there are family members of the victims who are looking for lines in the verdict that would cool their anger which has been simmering for the last two decade … On the other hand are those who are crying for the star … that he has two small kids and hundreds of crores are at stake in Bollywood”.
“I am not an advocate but I can tell how much justice is there in this verdict … But Sanju (Dutt) it is clearly visible that you got away lightly,” it added.
“The explosives which terrorized Mumbai were hidden in his house. Had a common man played this role would the same leniency been expected for him? Is it a minor thing that despite this he got relief from Tada?” Panchjanya asked.
Meanwhile BJP member and eminent lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani slammed Justice Katju for his letter to Governor to pardon Sanjay Dutt. Mr. Jethmalani said that the governor has no power to forgive anyone convicted under the Arms Act.
