The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the death sentence of Yakub Memon in the 1993 Bombay serial blasts case. Supreme Court has also altered the death sentence of 10 convicts to life imprisonment.
The bench comprising Justice P Sathasivam and Justice BS Chauhan said Menon and his family members had played a major role in the execution of the conspiracy that led to 13 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai on March 12, 1993 which killed 257 people and injured more than 700.
The Court sentences 5 years jail term for actor Sanjay Dutt under the Arms Act for illegally possessing weapons.
The Court found Pakistan’s ISI was involved in the blast and slammed them for terrorist acts in the country.
