A six member special team including five CBI personnel and one IT department official will examine the contents of Niira Radia phone tap conversation.
Supreme Court on Thursday formed this special team supervised by the Deputy Inspector General, CBI to check the tapped phonic discussion between corporate lobbyist Niira Radia and politicians, businessmen and others in 2G spectrum case.
Justice G S Singhvi and justice S J Mukhopadhaya bench ordered the team to submit the report in four months.
Ratan Tata’s Lawyer Harish Salve asked the court to direct the team to maintain “utmost secrecy” while scrutinizing the transcripts. He said that the conversations between Ratan Tata and Ms. Niira Radia were personal.
Prashant Bhushan who appeared on behalf of Centre for Public Interest Litigation, said, “There are some conversations in public domain and those are hardly personal in nature. They relate to illegality and shed significant light on how government decisions are being influenced and how institutions run in the country.”
Niira Radia, the controversial corporate lobbyist has built up Rs. 300 crore business empire in just nine years allegedly using nexus between corporate and politicians.
