According to some news channels, Trinamool Congress party workers have attacked a panchayat employee at Debipur in the Murshidabad district on Thursday and allegedly cut off an ear for failing to report to duty on day one of the trade unions’ strike in West Bengal.
Although no formal complaint has not been lodged yet against anyone, but the victim said that he was attacked by TMC workers who stormed the panchayat office in Debipur.
“They came and started breaking computers and ransacked the office. They attacked me with a knife and in the process mutilated my ear. They were upset because I didn’t attend work because of the strike,” he said.
The victim was rushed to hospital and later admitted.
TMC has denied the allegations.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had asked state government employees to come to report to works during the two-day Bharat bandh called by trade unions.
